The Library Digitisation Project involves the assessment of all library materials held in the Library. Decision-making about retention, discard or digitisation of books, research publications, journals, pamphlets and other library materials in accordance with legislation and policy will be required.
The incumbent will be required to lift boxes of materials, prepare and analyse spreadsheets of metadata, interrogate and update library and information systems as well as the national bibliographic database called Libraries Australia Document Delivery (LADD) system.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Experience with library management systems such as FIRST LMS, and the UDC classification system.
  • Familiarity with LADD.
  • Searching LADD using admin access is required.
  • Experience with assessing and evaluating library materials based on currency, accuracy and relevance.
  • Previous collection management experience is preferred including evaluation of materials according to established weeding criteria.
  • Attention to detail.
  • The size of the library collection is substantial. The successful incumbent must be able to stay focussed and be able to prioritise portions of work in order to progress effectively through the project.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and work in a team environment.
  • As part of a small project team, the successful candidate should be willing to ask questions, share knowledge, follow instructions and collaborate with the rest of the team.
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills.
  • Administrative skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel etc).
  • Able to lift 15kgs repetitively.
