About the role
As the Lead Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping, managing, and assuring systems engineering outcomes across a highly complex, multi-disciplinary environment. You will work closely with senior engineering stakeholders to identify and mitigate risk, guide technical certification, and ensure alignment across evolving system requirements.
Your duties will include:
- Leading the coordination, elicitation, and development of requirements
- Supporting change management activities relating to the Operational Concept Document (OCD)
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of the project Safety Case and safety documentation
- Coordinating Commonwealth involvement in industry-led verification and validation activities
- Providing oversight of key engineering artefacts, including specifications and technical plans
- Leading and mentoring a small team of engineers in partnership with the Project Engineering Manager
Skills and Experience we are looking for:
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering or a related technical discipline
- Minimum of 10+ years post-graduate engineering experience
- Proven experience working within the ADF Capability Life Cycle
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across Defence, industry, and government
- Excellent verbal communication and high-quality technical writing capability
