Lead & Senior Electrical Engineers – Perth Airport – Contract

Our client is a leading company in the mining industry, dedicated to innovation and sustainability. we are currently seeking an experienced Lead & Senior Electrical Engineers to join our clients developing team. Reporting to the Principal Electrical Engineer Green Fleet Development, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering electrical systems for Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) and Rail Green Fleet Development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver electrical systems for Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) and Rail Green Fleet Development projects in a safe, timely, and sustainable manner.
  • Lead design reviews and validation of various engineering designs and associated components.
  • Provide technical guidance and governance on all Electrical Engineering Systems related to works being carried out, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Mentor the electrical engineering team to contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
  • Resolve technical and design issues.
  • Select components suitable for the application/project.
  • Prioritize and deliver work in a fast-moving environment.
  • Adapt to change quickly and adjust to new requirements.
  • Proactively deliver on the company’s stretch targets.
  • Develop technical specifications to meet project-specific objectives.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications, and scopes.
  • Ensure compliance with the project management process by project owners.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects.
  • Provide commissioning support.
  • Provide regular updates to the Principal Electrical Engineer on work progress, risks, and priorities.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Electrical, Mechatronics, or Electronics Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Mining, Rail, or Heavy Mobile Equipment Electrical Drive System Engineering.
  • Experience with heavy mobile equipment inverter systems.
  • Experience in Power Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience with the operation of inverters, chargers, and VSD.
  • Experience with automotive industry comms protocols, such as CAN bus and J1939.
  • Experience in designing high voltage DC power systems with experience in electrical noise filtration is advantageous.
  • Experience with Functional Safety principles and familiarity with Functional Safety standards and compliance.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams.
  • High commitment to safety.
  • Experience with SAP work management.
  • Experience in preparing detailed scopes of work.
  • Experience in contractor engagement and contractor management processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal awareness with the ability to work well in a team.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for excellence.
  • Results-driven, responsible, and accountable.
  • Skilled in rapid problem-solving.
