Lead Project Engineer - Solar Power - Mining - Hazelemere WA

Talent International is recruiting an experienced Lead Project Engineer to join one of our major clients delivering significant renewable energy and decarbonisation projects.

Reporting to the Renewable Energy Generation leadership team, you’ll lead detailed engineering activities supporting Solar PV projects throughout evaluation, development, construction, commissioning and operation.

This is a senior technical position suited to an experienced Electrical or Renewable Energy Engineer with deep expertise in utility-scale Solar PV engineering and design.

Solar PV Engineering & Design

• Lead detailed Solar PV power plant engineering and design.
• Undertake site identification, assessment and evaluation.
• Review solar resource monitoring and resource datasets.
• Lead Solar PV plant design and technology assessment.
• Support equipment and technology selection.
• Develop plant generation and power profile forecasts.
• Develop Solar PV engineering procedures, specifications and standards.
• Establish engineering processes and technical requirements.
• Analyse operational plant and equipment performance.

Project Engineering

• Act as the Solar PV Subject Matter Expert across projects.
• Provide engineering peer review and technical assurance.
• Develop engineering inputs and project estimates supporting investment decisions.
• Lead design coordination and management.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging Solar PV products and technologies.
• Identify opportunities to improve project performance and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and engineering standards.
• Lead engineering risk assessments and mitigation activities.
• Develop equipment and services Scopes of Work.
• Support technical procurement and vendor management.
• Provide construction and commissioning engineering support.
• Support performance testing of Solar PV components.
• Provide operational and maintenance engineering support.

Technical Leadership

• Functionally lead and support other Project Engineers.
• Provide value-adding engineering advice to internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop strong relationships with consultants, service providers and equipment manufacturers.
• Coordinate technical engagement with project stakeholders.
• Mentor intermediate and graduate engineers.
• Review renewable resource and energy yield assessments where required.

Skills & Experience

• Significant experience in detailed Solar PV power plant engineering and design.
• Expert knowledge of Solar PV technologies and components.
• Strong experience in Solar PV project and resource evaluation.
• Extensive understanding of Solar PV design methodologies, engineering tools and technical resources.
• Experience supporting projects throughout development, engineering, construction and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of the relationship between technical and commercial project outcomes.
• Strong knowledge and application of Australian electrical and renewable energy standards.
• Demonstrated design coordination and engineering management experience.
• Strong analytical and technical evaluation capability.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High-level stakeholder and people management capability.
• Ability to deliver effectively within tight project timeframes.

Qualifications

• Tertiary Engineering qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a related discipline.
