Lead Data Engineer
Talent is partnering with a leading insurance organisation to recruit a Lead Data Engineer for a key data migration program.
This role will play a critical part in migrating legacy data platforms from SQL Server to Azure Databricks, helping modernise the organisation’s data ecosystem and support future analytics capabilities.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and delivery of data migration solutions from SQL Server to Azure Databricks.

Develop and optimise data pipelines and transformation processes within the Azure ecosystem.

Work closely with architects, data engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure successful migration outcomes.

Ensure data quality, governance, and performance throughout the migration process.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers within the program.

Identify and mitigate risks associated with large-scale data migrations.
Key Skills & Experience
- Financial Services experience is a must (Insurance is highly beneficial)

Proven experience leading or delivering data migration programs.

Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks.

Experience working with SQL Server and migrating legacy data platforms to modern cloud environments.

Strong knowledge of data engineering principles, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data architecture.

Experience working within financial services environments.

Exposure to insurance (particularly general insurance) is highly regarded.

Strong stakeholder communication and problem-solving skills.
