We’re partnering with a large, forward-thinking organisation to find a Lead AI Engineer who will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering enterprise-wide AI capability. This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll drive innovation, influence strategy, and deliver real business outcomes through cutting-edge AI solutions.

As the Lead AI Engineer, you’ll lead the design, development, and deployment of AI and machine learning solutions at scale. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, architects, and data teams to embed AI into core business operations, driving smarter decision-making, automation, and performance improvements.

This role sits at the intersection of strategy and hands-on engineering, giving you the opportunity to shape AI direction while still building and delivering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy end-to-end AI/ML solutions that deliver measurable business value
  • Lead the adoption of modern AI frameworks, including LLMs, NLP, and generative AI
  • Build and scale AI solutions using Azure, Databricks, MLflow, and Delta Lake
  • Establish and manage MLOps pipelines for model deployment, monitoring, and optimisation
  • Develop reusable AI frameworks (e.g. LangChain, LlamaIndex) to accelerate delivery
  • Ensure AI solutions meet governance, ethical, and compliance standards
  • Partner with stakeholders to align AI initiatives with strategic objectives
  • Mentor and lead engineers and data scientists, fostering a high-performing AI capability

Key skills & experience

  • Strong background in Python and/or TypeScript with 8+ years in software/data engineering
  • Proven experience delivering ML and deep learning solutions (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
  • Expertise in MLOps, CI/CD, and model lifecycle management
  • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud and Databricks ecosystem
  • Exposure to LLMs, generative AI, and frameworks like LangChain or similar
  • Strong data engineering capability (Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake)
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders
