A unique opportunity is available for a motivated laboratory professional to join a Research & Development team driving innovation in green iron technology at a leading mining company. This role supports experimental programs through hands on testing, analysis and equipment operation. You will contribute to innovation by assisting with laboratory-based research and development activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct experimental testing, analysis and measurements using custom built testing stations and PLC controlled rigs
  • Operate and monitor semi-automated test systems safely and effectively
  • Assemble, disassemble, inspect and clean fabricated components and mechanical parts at defined testing stages
  • Support qualitative and quantitative analysis and characterisation of samples using laboratory techniques including XRD and SEM
  • Prepare chemicals, reagents and materials required for experimental programs
  • Follow established experimental procedures, operating instructions and safety protocols
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, tools and workspaces in a clean and organised condition
  • Record test results accurately and maintain clear documentation
  • Comply with laboratory safety, health and environmental requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Science, Engineering or a related field preferred
  • Experience working in analytical, metallurgical or research laboratories highly desirable
  • Experience with analytical methods and materials characterisation techniques desirable
  • Demonstrated hands on ability to set up, operate and monitor test systems or equipment
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience assembling and disassembling fittings and components
