He angitūtanga | About the Role
Working collaboratively and creatively within a dynamic team of four, the Senior Communications Advisor reports to the Communications Manager and will have the opportunity to:
- Develop, lead, and manage the organisation’s digital communications that support Te Tumu Paeroa’s vision and business priorities.
- Identify new opportunities for digital communications and build on existing channels.
- Create written communications for diverse internal and external needs, ensuring consistent core brand values and key messages.
- Act as the communications lead on organisational projects, providing expert advice, timeframes, and content.
- Support and mentor the growth of other professionals in your team.
- Support the Communications Manager in raising the profile of communications across the organisation, stepping in to lead when required.
As the team expands and matures, the role will evolve offering the opportunity to help shape its future.

We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Senior-level experience in communications and engagement.
- Compelling writing and storytelling skills.
- Excellent relationship management skills and the ability to form strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to create and deliver strategic digital communications.
- Confidence to be the ‘go-to’ comms expert within project teams.
- Experience in mentoring and coaching the growth of other communications professionals.
- Previous experience working in a Māori organisation or writing communications for Māori audiences.
- An open, creative, and continuous improvement mindset.

* Pae Rua – Te Whakarongo: An ability to understand Te Reo Māori and a desire to practice correct pronunciation (desired).
Ngā Pae Mōhiotanga Tikanga Māori
* Pae Rua – Te Noho Marae: An understanding and living of tikanga Māori at a noho marae level. Knowing and practicing things such as basic karakia, waiata, and one’s own pepehā (desired).
