Our client is seeking a Junior Database Engineer to join their Infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1-3 years of Oracle database experience who is looking to develop their skills working with Oracle, Exadata, RAC and Grid Infrastructure.

This is a full-time hybrid position with 40-60% office attendance and the remainder working from home, offering flexibility while working alongside an experienced database team.

About the Role

As a Junior Database Engineer, you will support the administration, monitoring and maintenance of Oracle database environments and Exadata platforms. Working closely with senior Database Administrators, you will gain hands-on experience across database operations, patching, backup and recovery, performance monitoring and infrastructure support.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine Oracle database administration, monitoring and health checks.
• Support database backups, recovery and RMAN activities.
• Assist with Oracle and Exadata patching, including quarterly Critical Patch Updates (CPUs).
• Support Oracle Grid Infrastructure and RAC environments.
• Monitor database performance and assist with troubleshooting.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing and backup validation.
• Document operational procedures and technical runbooks.
• Manage incidents and service requests within agreed service levels.
• Assist with database upgrades, migrations and ongoing maintenance.
• Follow security, change management and compliance requirements.
• Participate in an on-call roster when required.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
• 1-3 years’ experience supporting Oracle database environments.
• Good understanding of Oracle Database architecture.
• Knowledge of RMAN backup and recovery.
• Basic Linux/Unix administration skills.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and develop within a collaborative team.

Desirable Skills

• Exposure to Oracle Exadata.
• Oracle Grid Infrastructure or RAC experience.
• Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM Cloud Control).
• Data Guard, ASM and Oracle Multitenant (CDB/PDB).
• Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or working towards Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
