Our Client

Our client is a government agency dedicated to uplifting the safety and protection of our sea environment by administering programs, initiatives and infrastructure to prevent and respond to emergencies and marine pollution. They are responsible for the provision and operation of a network or navigational, distress and communication aids for the safety of vessels in Australian waters, as well as relevant legislative frameworks and operating systems.

The Role

Join a highly skilled team supporting a mission-critical platform, where you’ll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing a complex enterprise application, delivering reliable, high-quality software that supports life-critical operational outcomes while contributing to the ongoing evolution of cloud-based services.

Your duties will include:

  • Design, develop and maintain enterprise Java applications and cloud-based backend services
  • Build and enhance REST and SOAP integrations, APIs and Oracle database solutions
  • Develop and support DevOps pipelines, software releases and automated testing processes
  • Produce technical documentation, solution designs and detailed implementation artefacts
  • Provide technical support for a critical operational platform, including participation in a shared on-call roster

Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years’ experience developing enterprise Java applications
  • Strong experience with Java, Spring/Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate and enterprise design patterns
  • Experience developing RESTful and SOAP web services using XML, JSON and OpenAPI specifications
  • Strong Oracle database experience, including data modelling and stored procedures
  • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SQS and CloudFormation
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools including Git, Jenkins, Maven and automated testing
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments with Bash scripting
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation
