We’re looking for someone who can talk tech-like APIs, system integration, and cloud tools-but also understands the day-to-day challenges of working with older systems and processes. You’ll need to bring clear thinking, strong planning, and a focus on getting things done in a dynamic and complex environment.
About the role and the RIB
The RIB is an independent body responsible for upholding integrity, welfare, and compliance across New Zealand’s racing industry. The RIB work to ensure fair, transparent, and accountable practices across all racing codes.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, you’ll be responsible for delivering a board-endorsed digital transformation programme. This includes overseeing an implementation roadmap (developed with a consulting partner), managing delivery partners, and working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment of enhanced digital services.
You will drive the evolution of RIB’s technology platforms to ensure they are modern, reliable and future-ready, while exploring opportunities to leverage open technologies and AI-driven solutions to enhance efficiency and strengthen the integrity functions central to RIB’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of technology initiatives that integrate systems, automate workflows and modernise core platforms.
- Implement recommendations from external delivery partners with careful consideration of RIB’s existing systems, operational needs and risk environment-including practical constraints and opportunities presented by cloud platforms, APIs and emerging AI technologies.
- Manage programme execution in alignment with a board-approved roadmap
- Oversee external delivery partners and ensure outputs meet scope, cost, time and quality expectations
- Maintain a strong focus on data integrity, information security, and compliance
- Lead change management efforts that foster engagement and ensure organisation-wide buy-in for digital initiatives
- Provide clear, concise project portfolio reporting to executive leadership and the Board
About You
You’re results-driven, pragmatic, and focused on making technology work for people. You know how to lead transformation programmes that produce measurable outcomes, and you’re confident translating technical strategy into operational impact.
- Solid experience in systems delivery and IT modernisation
- Proven track record leading organisation-wide change or transformation initiatives
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters in simple terms
- Comfortable working with third-party providers and managing competing priorities
- Informed and curious about new developments in AI, automation, and data technology
- Experience engaging with senior and executive-level stakeholders
What You’ll Get
- A trusted leadership role within a high-integrity, public-focused organisation
- Direct support from executive leadership and Board-level visibility
- A chance to shape and future-proof a national organisation’s digital landscape
