Instructional Designer - APS5

Our client is a large values-focused Federal Government Agency seeking multiple experienced APS5 Instructional Designers to develop learning content and training materials for frontline service delivery staff.

This role will suit someone with strong instructional design experience who can create accessible learning products, work with stakeholders to understand business needs, and deliver practical learning solutions across eLearning, facilitator-led, self-paced and blended formats.

ROLE DETAILS:

  • Location: Geelong, VIC
  • Contract: Initial term until 31st December – Strong likelihood for extension
  • Arrangement: Hybrid – 2/3 split
  • Rate: APS5 – $55.24/hr + Super
  • Eligibility: Australian Citizenship MANDATORY

ABOUT THE ROLE:

You’ll develop content for learning programs, including formal modules, coaching/support activities and learning materials. You’ll liaise with stakeholders to understand frontline role requirements, complete learning needs analysis, and ensure final products meet accessibility, governance, QA and document control requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop learning content for frontline service delivery staff, including modules, coaching activities and supporting materials
  • Work with stakeholders to understand learning requirements and embed business needs into final products
  • Collaborate with internal learning teams to support reporting, evaluation, administration, deployment and facilitation
  • Create accessible learning products using agency design software and relevant multimedia tools
  • Conduct learning needs analysis for ad hoc training requests
  • Apply governance frameworks, QA checks, document control and accessibility standards
  • Support continuous improvement to streamline learning processes and improve business efficiency

ABOUT YOU:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a learning and development environment, including training analysis, design, development and evaluation
  • Strong instructional design capability across eLearning, face-to-face content, facilitator guides, learner materials, self-paced learning and blended solutions
  • Experience using tools such as MS Word, Articulate Rise and Storyline
  • Ability to translate learning outcomes and technical concepts into plain English and meaningful visuals
  • Strong stakeholder consultation, facilitation and coaching skills
  • Ability to work to a style guide and maintain consistency across multiple training deliverables
  • Experience delivering against tight timeframes in an Agile/changing environment
  • Desirable: TAE40122 or relevant L&D/instructional design qualifications, disability sector understanding or lived experience, and experience in operations training environments
