Infrastructure Specialist / System Administrator
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Specialist / System Administrator to support the delivery of a large-scale technology uplift program for an enterprise client. This role will suit an infrastructure “all-rounder” with broad technical capability across cloud, network, backup and storage environments.
Working under the guidance of the Infrastructure Architect, you will play a key role in the assessment, configuration and implementation of new infrastructure capabilities. The position will involve hands-on technical delivery, documentation, and support of change and governance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design, build and configuration of a new cloud environment in line with architectural direction
- Assess and implement backup and storage solutions to meet enterprise resilience and recovery requirements
- Assist with configuration and optimisation of Cisco network infrastructure
- Perform system administration across core platforms and services
- Contribute to Environment Design Plans (EDP) and technical documentation
- Support change management processes, including preparation of change requests and implementation plans
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and provide technical resolution
- Work closely with the Infrastructure Architect, security, and project teams to ensure alignment with standards
- Participate in testing, cutover and post-implementation support activities
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a Systems Engineer / System Administrator / Infrastructure Specialist role
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) including configuration and administration
- Experience with enterprise backup and storage technologies
- Solid knowledge of Cisco networking (routing, switching, firewalls)
- Experience working within structured project environments
- Ability to produce high-quality technical documentation
- Understanding of ITIL change management processes
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
Desirable
- Experience supporting large infrastructure uplift or transformation programs
- Exposure to security controls and hardening standards
- Experience with monitoring, automation and scripting
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure/AWS, Cisco, VMware, ITIL)
