  • Contract Length: 12 months + 2 × (12-month extensions – Based on the discretion of the Department)

About the position:

This role sits within a central ICT strategy and governance function responsible for shaping and maintaining policy frameworks that support secure and compliant technology operations.

You will contribute to the development and maintenance of ICT and cyber security policies, coordinate governance responses, and prepare briefing materials to support departmental and parliamentary requirements. The role requires strong written communication, structured thinking, and confidence working within established government policy frameworks.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop, review, and maintain ICT and cyber security policies and procedures
  • Prepare divisional briefing documents and governance materials
  • Coordinate responses to parliamentary and departmental information requests
  • Engage with stakeholders across ICT and business areas to ensure policy alignment and clarity

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing ICT or cyber security policies
  • Strong understanding of the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM)
  • Proven ability to prepare high-quality briefing documents and governance artefacts
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Seniority fit:

  • This role is suited to professionals with hands-on experience in ICT policy, governance, or cyber policy environments within government or similarly regulated sectors
  • Ideal candidates are confident navigating legislative, compliance, and governance contexts while producing clear, structured documentation
  • Experience supporting parliamentary responses or senior executive briefings will be highly regarded

Technology & environment:

  • Federal Government ICT and cyber security policy frameworks
  • Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM)
  • Governance, briefing, and policy development processes within a structured public sector environment
  • Cross-functional collaboration between ICT, security, and business stakeholders

A quick note before you apply:

  • This role focuses on hands-on policy development and governance coordination rather than general administration or project support
  • Candidates whose experience is limited to operational ICT roles without exposure to policy, governance, or compliance frameworks may find the role misaligned
  • An active NV1 security clearance is mandatory; sponsorship is not available
  • Prior experience writing policies within the Australian Government environment will be highly advantageous
