IBM Mainframe Developers

  • Strong experience in mainframe batch processing, scheduling, and enterprise system support

This is an opportunity to join a large federal government environment supporting critical systems that impact millions of Australians. You’ll play a key role in ensuring high-volume batch processing runs reliably and efficiently, while contributing to the ongoing modernisation and stability of enterprise platforms.

Your duties will include:

  • Designing, developing and maintaining batch processing solutions
  • Managing and optimising system schedules and batch workflows
  • Providing technical support across development and production environments
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex system and performance issues
  • Supporting deployments, releases and ongoing system maintenance
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality ICT solutions
  • Providing on-call support for critical overnight batch operations

Skills and experience we are looking for:

  • Strong experience in IBM mainframe environments and batch processing
  • Proficiency in JCL, COBOL, or similar mainframe technologies
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as IBM Work Scheduler (OPC)
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and release processes
  • Experience with DB2 and related database tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to technical design decisions
