Head of Technology and Cyber Security
- Canberra based leadership role with occasional travel
- Must be eligible to hold an Australian Government security clearance
- Broad technology leadership across cyber security, cloud, architecture, applications, data and enterprise platforms
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced technology executive to shape the direction of a complex digital environment and strengthen organisational cyber resilience. Reporting to the CIO, you will lead the implementation of technology strategy, influence executive decision-making and ensure technology investments deliver secure, practical and sustainable business outcomes.
Your duties will include:
- Leading the implementation of technology and cyber security strategy across cloud, infrastructure, enterprise applications, integration, data and architecture.
- Providing trusted advice to the CIO, executive leadership, governance committees and risk forums.
- Developing technology roadmaps, annual delivery plans and investment priorities aligned with organisational objectives.
- Acting as the organisation’s Information Technology Security Adviser and overseeing cyber security governance, risk, compliance and incident reporting.
- Leading, coaching and developing a small, high-performing technology team while managing competing priorities and delivery risks.
- Establishing practical technology and cyber security policies, standards and governance frameworks.
- Overseeing technology vendors, contracts, procurement activities, budgets and commercial performance.
Skills and Experience we are looking for:
- Demonstrated experience in senior technology, digital or cyber security leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary enterprise technology environments, including cloud platforms, applications, infrastructure, integration, data and cyber security.
- Demonstrated experience translating technology strategy into clear plans, priorities and measurable outcomes.
- Advanced leadership capability, with experience building teams, removing delivery barriers and leading through change and ambiguity.
- Strong executive communication skills, including the ability to prepare board papers, governance reports, risk updates and strategic briefings.
- Proven commercial acumen across technology investment, vendor management, contracts, procurement and financial management.
- The ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, practical advice for executive and non-technical stakeholders.
