Founding Finance Lead

The role:
This is the first dedicated finance hire, owning day-to-day finance operations while partnering closely with founders and leadership. You’ll build the foundations for scale, drive financial discipline, and act as the go-to finance partner across the business.
Key responsibilities:
- Own month-end close end-to-end – fast, accurate, and scalable
- Manage GL coding, allocations, and financial processes
- Build and implement approval workflows and spend controls
- Deliver revenue reporting and insights to leadership
- Partner with founders on financial decision-making and performance
- Manage external bookkeepers, advisors, and fractional CFO
- Support FP&A, unit economics, and operational efficiency
Skills and experience:
- Proven month-end close experience in a commercial environment
- Background in in-house finance (not purely audit/tax)
- Experience working with external accountants or bookkeepers
- Strong ownership mindset – proactive and accountable
- Excellent communication with non-finance stakeholders
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- Startup/scale-up experience or Big 4 + commercial exposure (preferred)
