Talent International is currently recruiting for a Finance Business Partner (Capital Works) to work for the Local Government, based in Sydney CBD. The position is a 5-month contract and pays between $55 – $72 per hour + Super.

7.5 hours a day / 38 hours a week

Key accountabilities

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders (including project managers, delivery managers, unit managers and divisional managers) to monitor financial performance of the client’s capital works (across all capital expenditure categories), including business risks, opportunities and implement improvements aligned with strategy to enable informed decision-making.
  • Prepare monthly financial information, with detailed analysis and clear performance commentary.
  • Play a key role in the delivery of the client’s capital works Long Term Financial Planning, informing Divisional budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Develop and enhance financial performance and program delivery of capital works using financial modelling and analysis through reporting in Power BI to inform strategic decisions.
  • Deliver ad hoc financial analysis and insights to support operational and strategic initiatives across the client.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in financial practices.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience

  • CPA / CA or similar tertiary qualifications.
  • Proven extensive experience in supporting large capital expenditure programs in the context of reporting, budgeting and forecasting in a project-based environment, including the provision of insightful trends and performance analytics.
  • Demonstrated success in business partnering and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Digitally fluent, with a track record of using financial systems and data tools (preferably Power BI) to report on financial performance, trends, insights and analytics.
  • Must be CPA/CA qualified
