Enterprise Virtualization Administrator - VMWare and Netapps
VMware / NetApp | On-Prem Environment | Step-Up Opportunity
Opportunity knocks…
We’re looking for an Infrastructure Administrator to join a high-performing IT team and take ownership of virtualisation and storage platforms. This is a hands-on, firefighting role where you’ll provide operational support, resolve incidents, and keep critical infrastructure running smoothly.
If you’re an experienced Level 2 Service Desk or Support Engineer with strong VMware/virtualisation skills, this is your chance to step up into an Administrator position and make your mark.
The inside word…
- Hands-on role ensuring systems remain safe, reliable, and efficient
- 80% BAU operational support, with some project exposure
- Focused on on-premise infrastructure (not a cloud-heavy environment)
- You’ll work largely independently – the only other virtualisation engineer sits in another team
- A role for someone who can hit the ground running with minimal hand-holding
You’re a legend because……
- You bring 3-4 + years’ IT administration/support experience (Level 2 or above)
- Strong virtualisation experience – VMware / vSphere essential
- NetApp operations knowledge (ONTAP, NFS, SMB, iSCSI, FC)
- Solid grounding in enterprise storage (NAS/SAN) – flexibility if your virtualisation is strong
- Familiar with the ITIL framework for incident/change management
- Troubleshooting pro – comfortable “firefighting” under pressure
- Bonus points for: Cisco MDS/Brocade SAN, vSAN, automation/scripting (e.g., Ansible), or cloud concepts (Azure, AWS, GCP)
What’s in it for you?
- A chance to step up from Support into an Administrator role
- Administration of enterprise-grade virtualisation and storage systems
- A collaborative team culture where you can make real impact
- Exposure to both BAU and project work in a fast-paced environment
- Auckland CBD location + flexible working options
