Engineering Project Manager - 12 month contract

We’re partnering with a leading energy organisation delivering large-scale Solar Farm and Battery Energy Storage (BESS) projects across New Zealand.
They’re looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the engineering and infrastructure delivery of a major solar project – covering electrical, civil and structural works, including HV substation integration.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in projects supporting the future of clean energy in Aotearoa.
The Role
You’ll lead complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects across the full delivery lifecycle – working closely with engineering, construction and stakeholder teams to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality project outcomes.
The role includes regular site presence in Taup? (approximately 3 days per week) to support project delivery and contractor coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of renewable energy infrastructure projects including Solar Farms, BESS and HV Substations
- Manage multidisciplinary engineering teams across electrical, civil and structural workstreams
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, cost management and reporting
- Manage project risks, resources and stakeholder expectations
- Coordinate contractors and delivery partners across the project lifecycle
- Provide clear project reporting and governance across internal stakeholders
What You’ll Bring
- Proven Project Management experience delivering large infrastructure or renewable energy projects
- Experience across solar farms, HV substations, BESS or electrical infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2 or similar)
- Experience using Primavera, SAP or similar project management tools
- Ability to manage complex multidisciplinary delivery environments
Strong stakeholder engagement and contractor management capability
Certification as a Certified Practising Project Manager (CPPM) or similar would be advantageous.
Working Model
- 12-month fixed term contract (high likelihood of extension)
- Travel to Taup0 site approx. 3 days per week
- All site travel costs covered (flights, accommodation, vehicle hire, meals)
- Company laptop and phone provided
