The Role

As the site-based Project Engineer, you will oversee day-to-day field engineering, contractor coordination, QA/QC and schedule control for civil and mechanical work fronts including:

  • Earthworks, drainage, access roads and laydowns
  • Foundations, hardstands and substation civils
  • Trackers, piling, torque tubes and mechanical structures
  • Interface management with electrical and substation works

You will provide clear direction in the field, maintain high standards of safety and quality, and ensure works are delivered on schedule to support commissioning milestones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion a strong safety culture through pre-starts, inspections and field engagement
  • Ensure compliance with permits, environmental approvals and heritage/land access conditions
  • Manage ITPs, test plans, hold/witness points, RFIs, NCRs and MDR documentation
  • Coordinate survey control, set-out, as-builts/WAE and drawing conformance
  • Run 3-6 week look-aheads and short-interval control linked to critical path
  • Track production metrics (piles/day, tracker assemblies/day, concrete m³/day, etc.)
  • Support contract administration including variations, quantities and progress claims
  • Lead contractor and vendor coordination across multiple work fronts
  • Drive readiness for commissioning through QA close-out and turnover packages
  • Prepare weekly reports covering HSE, progress, risks and schedule pressures

About You

To succeed, you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years’ site-based engineering experience (civil/mining/energy)
  • Strong delivery experience in earthworks, drainage, roads and foundations
  • Practical understanding of QA/QC and Australian Standards
  • Proven ability to run look-aheads, short-interval control and production tracking
  • Experience coordinating contractors and managing complex interfaces
  • Strong communication and field leadership skills
  • Ability to thrive in Pilbara FIFO conditions (2:1 roster)

Desirable

  • Utility-scale solar experience (trackers, piles, modules, inverter pads)
  • Familiarity with 1P trackers, piling QA and module handling
  • P6/MS Project and Power BI/Excel reporting capability
  • Experience working on Tier 1 miner sites
