
EL1 Senior Site Reliability Engineer
The opportunity:
Our highly valued client is a federal government agency. They are seeking an EL1 level Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join a national team in a leadership position managing system availability, performance, capacity and fault-tolerance.
- Richmond or Geelong location plus hybrid work-from-home
- 12 month initial contract + 12 month extension, rates fully negotiable
- Role only open to Australian Citizens – Federal government client
The role:
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, your duties will include:
- End to end ownership of site reliability within the product team
- Identification of areas of improvement in both application and infrastructure layers
- Implementation of key metrics and observability
- Preventative approach to platform stability rather than reactive.
- Plan and implement automation to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention
- Collaborate across technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve system issues
- Participate in the design and architecture of reliable and scalable systems
- Conduct root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventive measures
- Write and maintain incident response plans and product standard operating procedures
- Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve systems
Skills and experience:
To succeed in this role you will need:
- Senior or Principal level experience as a Site Reliability Engineer
- Extensive hands-on experience building infrastructure and software systems within AWS.
- Proficiency in automating daily processes
- Experience with containerization runtimes and platforms such as Containerd and Kubernetes
- Experience with configuring and using monitoring and observability platforms and frameworks such as Dynatrace, Splunk, and Open Telemetry
- Experience in configuring mobile application monitoring using Dynatrace, Firebase, and Crashlytics
- Experience using Git, Terraform, Helm, Cloudflare (or equivalent)
- Understanding of microservices architecture and service mesh technologies.
- Experience using AWS services such as CloudWatch, RDS, EKS, S3, EC2, VPC, Route53, PrivateLink, TransitGateway, EFS, IAM, and CloudTrail
- Experience using Typescript or Golang would be advantageous
