EL1 Senior DevOps Engineer
Our client is a large values-focused Federal Government Agency delivering cloud, data and digital platform capability to support critical public services.
They are seeking 2 x Senior DevOps Engineers to lead cloud infrastructure, DevOps uplift and CI/CD delivery across complex AWS environments. This role will suit hands-on engineers with strong AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes/Docker and multi-language coding capability.
ROLE DETAILS
Location: Melbourne VIC / Geelong VIC
Contract: 12 months + 12-month extension option
Rate: $1000-$1200 / daily
Working arrangement: Hybrid, 2-3 days per week in office
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Eligibility: Australian Citizen only (non-citizens will not be considered)
Security Clearance: NV1 Security Clearance Required
Close: Wednesday 15 July 2026
ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will design, build, deploy and support cloud and data infrastructure, working closely with business stakeholders and full-stack teams to deliver scalable, secure and well-documented solutions. You’ll also play a leadership role across project teams, managing priorities, supporting agile delivery and driving high-quality DevOps outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, deploy and support cloud and data infrastructure
- Build and maintain DevOps practices, tools and continuous delivery pipelines
- Manage and prioritise work queues to ensure timely delivery of key initiatives
- Implement scalable AWS infrastructure and automate provisioning using Terraform
- Support containerisation, cluster deployment and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
- Write and maintain code across Python, JavaScript and Golang
- Ensure solutions follow integration best practice and are well documented
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, set priorities and deliver outcomes
- Provide technical leadership within agile project teams
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive hands-on AWS infrastructure and services experience
- Strong DevOps delivery experience including GitLab, Artifactory, Jira and CI/CD pipelines
- Expertise with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform
- Strong Git/version control experience and understanding of agile delivery
- Ability to write and maintain moderately complex code across Python, JavaScript and Golang
- Strong Docker and Kubernetes experience, including cluster deployment and orchestration
- Ability to work with stakeholders and provide leadership across complex technical initiatives
- Desirable: Azure infrastructure experience, HashiCorp Vault, and AI-enabled CI/CD automation
