EL1 Scrum Master

  • 12-month contract with a 12-month extension
  • Richmond or Geelong location

We are seeking an experienced EL1 Scrum Master to support the delivery of large and complex ICT transformation projects within a Federal Government environment.

Working across multiple project teams, you will lead Agile ceremonies, coordinate delivery activities and support multidisciplinary teams including Business Analysts, Developers, Testers, Service Designers and UX/UI specialists.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead one or more squads delivering complex software development, implementation and ICT projects.
  • Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives and PI planning activities.
  • Manage user stories, acceptance criteria, backlogs and definitions of done in collaboration with Business Analysts and Product Owners.
  • Use Jira to monitor team capacity, velocity, burndown reporting, forecasting and delivery progress.
  • Coordinate testing activities and ensure defects are prioritised and allocated appropriately.
  • Manage sprint and release planning in line with broader project timelines and organisational commitments.
  • Identify and resolve delivery risks, dependencies and barriers affecting the team.
  • Coach team members in Agile frameworks and support continuous improvement in Scrum maturity.
  • Manage project governance, stage gates and reporting requirements.

About you:

  • At least three years’ experience facilitating complex project delivery using Agile methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of SAFe and its application across large and complex programs.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with Business Analysts to prepare user stories for upcoming sprints.
  • Advanced Jira skills, including backlog management, reporting and burndown charts.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and remain composed in changing or uncertain environments.
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence and SharePoint.
  • Australian Government ICT transformation experience will be highly regarded.
  • Exposure to data migration, case management or information management projects would be advantageous.
  • Relevant project management or Agile qualifications are desirable.
