
EL1 - Data and Reporting
Our client is a federal government organisation with offices throughout Australia. Due to growth, they are seeking EL1 Assistant Director, Data and Reporting to join their team in Geelong.
- 12-month initial contract plus 12-month extension
- Hybrid with 3 days per week onsite – GEELONG ONLY
- Federal government role – Australian citizenship required
Key duties and responsibilities
In this role you will be leading a small team to deliver analytical work including data advisory, data analysis, data management and reporting in support of complex economic and pricing policy and market monitoring.
Duties may include:
- Identifying, designing, building and deploying scalable data, statistical and mathematical models
- Developing and executing data collection and presentation strategies
- Design and delivery of regular and adhoc reports and insights to inform decision making and policy development, including data scope, analysis, quality assurance and visualisation for pricing policy reports
- Develop and maintain pricing and market performance dashboards
- Identification, exploration and formalisation of data insights including the engagement and procurement of third-party data sources for integration into data models and reports
- Identification and engagement with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery of work priorities and projects
- Participation in data forums and supporting ongoing data transformation process.
To apply you will need the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Quantitative mindset with technical and analytical ability to handle and analyse data
- Ability to work with large data including manipulating and extracting data from data warehouses
- Ability to synthesise and coordinate complex information
- Advanced proficiency with major statistical software packages such as R and Python, EXCEL, SAS/SQL
- Strong communication skills that enable complex data and insights to be conveyed to non-technical audiences and within business contexts.
Desirable criteria
- Bachelor’s degree in: Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, or related quantitative field
- Experience working in mathematical and statistical modelling and forecasting
- Experience in leading analysis projects and teams
- Knowledge of machine / statistical learning techniques such as non-linear regression, kernel regression, support vector machines (SVM), neural networks, classification trees and similar techniques
