The opportunity
Our client is a large federal government agency responsible for implementing Australia’s largest social reform since Medicare. They have a great opportunity for an EL1 Assistant Director Research Evaluation to join the Research and Evaluation Branch, and focus on the evaluation of a major national research project involving developmental delays in children, spanning multiple phases.

  • Initial 12 month contract with ongoing extensions highly likely
  • Richmond or Geelong location with 1 to 3 days in office – excellent flexibility
  • EL1 level with a daily rate of $602.55 plus super

The Role
As the EL1 Assistant Director Research Evaluation, you will oversee the evaluation across multiple levels of the multi-year program researching developmental delays, including evaluation of implementation and scalability, effectiveness of the program, and service integration. This will include significant stakeholder engagement with a wide range of external stakeholders, as well as project management, and producing and presenting reports. Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Working with external and internal stakeholders to scope, deliver and govern the evaluation
  • Preparing ethics and site governance applications
  • Collecting and analysing a range of quantitative, qualitative and survey data, including coordinating other members of the Research and Evaluation Branch on such activities
  • Ensuring the evaluation is conducted in accordance with appropriate guidelines, standard operating procedures, NDIS standards and ethics requirements, and maintaining project related records
  • Preparing and presenting reports and slide-pack summaries for internal and external stakeholders
  • Working collaboratively with other teams in the Research and Evaluation Branch, as required
  • Designing and conducting other research projects, including working with people with various types of disabilities and from various cultural backgrounds
  • Communicate and support the implementation of research findings

About You
The successful applicant will have:

  • Strong previous experience as an evaluator, or in research or program evaluation
  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to work with stakeholders to determine stakeholder needs, program logics and outcomes required
  • Experience in using a range of sophisticated methods including quantitative and qualitative methods and embedding the participant at the heart of the work
  • Demonstrated ability to work with external and internal stakeholders to scope, deliver and govern the evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience delivering end to end formative and impact evaluations which have informed change
  • Ideal industry experience could be from a Clinical background such as allied health, psychology, OT, speech pathology, or a strong background in clinical trials and managing large research projects
  • Experience in using a range of sophisticated methods including quantitative, qualitative and economic methods, and embedding the participant at the heart of the work
  • Excellent presentation and stakeholder skills
