Talent International is currently recruiting for an EL1 Assistant Director Program Manager to work for one of our Federal Government clients based in any office locations in NSW. The position is a 6-month contract role with the possibility of extension. The role pays $602.55 per day + Super.

7.6 hours per day and 38 hours per week

About the Role

As the EL1 Assistant Director – Program Manager, you will provide leadership across major programs and projects, ensuring successful delivery against objectives, timelines, and strategic priorities. You will work in a complex and fast-paced environment, managing risks, engaging stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement across program activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and evaluate project and program outputs, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate and manage specialist service providers, contractors, and consultants to support successful program outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice and technical guidance across project and program activities.
  • Lead strategic planning and contribute to the development of long-term program initiatives.
  • Manage, deliver, and monitor complex projects and programs with potential agency-wide impact.
  • Identify, assess, and manage program and project risks, ensuring effective mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Apply sound judgement and decision-making in a complex and evolving environment.
  • Contribute to branch leadership and foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex programs, projects, or reform initiatives within the public sector.
  • Experience developing and implementing policy, analysing data and information, and preparing high-quality reports, briefings, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Knowledge and experience in strategic policy development and implementation.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and delivering successful outcomes.
  • Experience working with legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with strategic commissioning and program delivery.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly within government environments.

Desirable Requirements

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the disability sector.
  • Strong governance, risk management, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Understanding of Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs).
