EL1 Assistant Director, Cultural Safety Learning

Talent International is currently recruiting for an EL1 Assistant Director, Cultural Safety Learning to work for one of our Federal Government clients at one of its multiple office locations across NSW. The position is a contract till end of Dec with the possibility of extension. The role pays $602.55 per day + Super.

7.6 hours per day and 38 hours per week

About the role

As the EL1 Assistant Director, Cultural Safety Learning, you will lead the design, development and implementation of the Cultural Safety Learning Program and related workplace capability initiatives. The role has a strong focus on improving outcomes for First Nations peoples and embedding culturally safe, strengths-based approaches across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and implementation of cultural safety learning and workplace capability initiatives aligned to strategic objectives.
• Provide high-level strategic, policy and cultural safety advice to senior executives, including preparing ministerial briefs, submissions and committee papers.
• Embed cultural safety into workforce capability planning, learning and development strategies.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, co-design and consultation with internal business areas, First Nations peoples, communities, organisations and other key partners.
• Represent the Agency in high-level meetings, working groups and committees to progress cultural safety priorities.
• Partner with HR, learning and development, and operational teams to ensure initiatives meet workforce and organisational needs.
• Oversee program monitoring, evaluation, reporting, risk management and performance measures.
• Lead, mentor and support staff while fostering a positive, safe and accountable workplace culture.
• Champion responsive approaches that recognise and respect First Nations cultural and community contexts.

Essential criteria

• Demonstrated ability to lead complex training, learning and workplace capability initiatives, including governance, risk management and co-design.
• Strong project and program management capability, including planning, monitoring, reporting and stakeholder management.
• Proven ability to build trusted, respectful and effective relationships with First Nations peoples, communities, organisations and leaders.
• High-level instructional design capability, including applying the ADDIE model across analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation.
• Expertise in adult learning principles and training development.
• Ability to analyse diverse information sources, assess policy impacts and develop evidence-based recommendations in complex environments.
• Demonstrated experience leading high-performing teams, managing resources and delivering results in a dynamic policy setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing high-quality reports and briefs and representing an organisation in senior forums.
• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to identify, assess and respond to operational and strategic risks.

Desirable criteria

• Experience working with First Nations peoples, communities and/or organisations.
• Qualifications in education, training, human resources or a related discipline.
• Experience designing and/or delivering training, particularly in First Nations policy or service delivery contexts.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent).
• Experience working within disability, health, Indigenous affairs or community-controlled organisation settings.
• Tertiary qualifications in public policy, social sciences, law, Indigenous studies or a related field.
