Senior Drupal Developer
Contract Opportunity – 12 months | Hybrid | Melbourne CBD

We are seeking an experienced Senior Drupal Developer to join a high-profile digital transformation and content modernisation program within a large government environment.

This role will play a critical part in supporting a large-scale Drupal platform used as a central knowledge and policy hub, including integration with emerging AI-enabled services. The successful candidate will contribute to content migration, platform optimisation, technical uplift, and strategic platform planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate large-scale content uploads and migration activities within Drupal
  • Ensure accurate formatting, tagging, metadata management, and publishing workflows
  • Conduct platform health assessments across performance, security, accessibility, and technical debt
  • Develop remediation recommendations and support implementation activities
  • Contribute to long-term platform strategy, architecture planning, and integration considerations
  • Provide technical support, ticket management, and user guidance across the platform
  • Collaborate with ICT teams, stakeholders, and policy/business areas

Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Drupal development, configuration, and administration
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale content migration and publishing projects
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Information architecture
    • Taxonomy and metadata design
    • Accessibility standards and best practice
    • Platform remediation and optimisation
  • Experience conducting platform audits and health reviews
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously in fast-paced environments

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ recent Drupal development experience
  • Experience across modern Drupal versions and associated web technologies
  • Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving capability
  • As this role is working for the Federal Government only Australian Citizens who are eligible to obtain, or already hold baseline clearance may be considered.
