Our client is a large Federal Government organisation responsible for delivering nationally significant programs and reform initiatives. The agency operates within a complex stakeholder environment and works closely with government, service providers and community partners to improve service delivery outcomes.

About the Role

The EL2 Director – Policy and Strategy will lead complex reform and policy workstreams within a nationally significant program environment. The role is responsible for strategic policy development, strategic commissioning initiatives, governance engagement and market analysis activities. You will work closely with internal executives, operational areas and external stakeholders to support policy reform outcomes and drive strategic priorities across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic policy and reform initiatives aligned to organisational priorities
  • Develop policy advice, reform strategies and corporate documentation
  • Lead strategic commissioning and market engagement activities
  • Provide high-level advice on complex and sensitive issues
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders across government and industry
  • Contribute to governance forums, steering committees and decision-making processes
  • Manage workstreams, priorities and resources within agreed timeframes
  • Support branch leadership and contribute to a positive team culture

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex policy or reform initiatives within government
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
  • Experience preparing strategic policy advice, briefs and governance documentation
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership, judgement and decision-making capability
  • Experience working within commissioning, procurement or market engagement environments is highly regarded

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications are highly desirable
  • Equivalent public sector experience will also be considered
