At Talent, we don’t just place people into roles-we partner with innovators to build the future. Right now, we’re on the hunt for a Director of Business Agility to join our client, a fast-growing Tech organisation headquartered in Auckland with a global footprint.
This role is critical to shaping how the client works-not just what they do, but how they do it. It’s a rare opportunity to craft and embed enterprise-wide agility at the strategic level, creating real, measurable change across cross-functional teams.

Why This Role Exists
The client already has a strong agile foundation at the team level. But with rapid growth and the need to drive enterprise-wide outcomes, they’re looking to evolve. You’ll bridge the current gap between strategy and delivery, designing and implementing tailored ways of working that drive faster, better, cross-pillar outcomes.
This isn’t about dropping in a playbook or forcing a framework. This is about understanding what makes the business tick-and building an adaptable, high-performance environment around that.

Key Focus Areas

  • Design and deliver a strategic, fit-for-purpose enterprise agility strategy-tailored to the client’s people, pace, and goals.
  • Collaborate closely with the SLT, Heads of Engineering, Product, and Operations to align agility with business outcomes.
  • Drive initiatives to improve work visibility, delivery forecasting, and organisational flow efficiency.
  • Introduce structured change management approaches across the business.
  • Champion cross-pillar collaboration by embedding lean and agile principles that enhance cross-functional outcomes.
  • Embed systems thinking, adaptive governance, and customer-centric delivery practices.

Ways of Working – The Heart of the Role
You’ll be responsible for redefining how the client works, not what methodology to follow. They value:

  • Psychological safety & trust-building: Influence through collaboration, not command.
  • Agility as a mindset, not a methodology: Frameworks serve the people, not the other way around.
  • Real-world strategy: Practical solutions over theoretical perfection.

You’ll live and breathe ways of working-so much so that we’ll say it again: this role is about ways of working. It’s at the core of everything you’ll do.

What Success Looks Like

  • Strategic enterprise agility roadmap embedded across pillars
  • Enhanced delivery visibility and forecasting for leadership
  • Effective change processes that support transformation
  • Collaborative, ego-free culture where teams align and adapt with clarity
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the Agile Lead Coach and broader coaching team

Cultural Fit – What You’re Made Of
The client’s culture is fast-paced, collaborative, and ego-free. To thrive here, you’ll need to:

  • Embrace change and bring others on the journey-not impose it.
  • Collaborate without patch protection-you influence across boundaries without owning them.
  • Be humble: If you think “this is how Agile must be done,” this probably isn’t the right place.
  • Challenge and be challenged– constructively. Diverse thinking is celebrated.
  • Lead by example, build trust, and foster psychological safety.

What You Bring

  • 6+ years in organisational change, Agile transformation, or business agility roles
  • Proven success in embedding new ways of working across a Tech business
  • 2+ years in enterprise Agile leadership or coaching, preferably in software environments
  • Skilled in systems thinking, change management, lean/agile delivery, and adaptive governance
  • An exceptional communicator and influencer-across all levels
  • Familiarity with frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, SAFe-but not wedded to any

The Perks

  • Competitive salary + 15% STI bonus
  • 4 wellness days + birthday leave
  • $2,000 annual training budget
  • $1,000 WFH setup allowance
  • Paid health & life insurance
  • Hospitality perks
