Director Electronic Security Systems
A major public sector organisation is seeking an experienced senior leader to establish and lead a newly created Security Standards Unit responsible for electronic, physical and procedural security across high-risk, high-security environments.
This role will shape state-wide security policy, uplift operational technology capability, and guide major infrastructure and cyber security standards.
As Director, you will stand up a specialised team to deliver the frameworks, governance and systems that underpin safety, security and operational integrity across multiple complex facilities.
Key deliverables include:
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive protective security policy framework
- Creating a cyber security roadmap for Operational Technology supporting Electronic Security Systems
- Leading annual system assurance, attestation and governance processes
- Establishing infrastructure design standards, guidelines and risk management frameworks
- Ensuring system performance, integrity, availability and lifecycle maintenance
- Representing the organisation on key governance committees and working groups
- Collaborating closely with technology, cyber, operations and infrastructure teams
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead a high-performing Electronic Security Systems team
- Build robust system governance, monitoring and reporting frameworks
- Oversee maintenance schedules, system health, KPIs and risk mitigation
- Manage system upgrades, serviceability improvements and major works integration
- Drive cyber and electronic security risk management across multi-site operations
- Foster continuous improvement, compliance and innovation
- Influence and engage stakeholders including senior leaders, frontline staff and unions
- Support change adoption across varied operational environments
About You
You are a seasoned technical leader with extensive experience managing complex, integrated electronic security systems within high-security or critical-infrastructure environments.
You can demonstrate:
- Strong leadership with the ability to establish new teams, functions and standards
- Deep knowledge of OT security, electronic security systems and cyber governance
- Experience managing governance, assurance and high-risk technology environments
- Strategic planning, commercial acumen and exceptional communication skills
- Ability to navigate sensitive stakeholder environments with competing priorities
- Background in major infrastructure, corrections, defence, policing, utilities or similar sectors
Highly advantageous:
- Engineering qualification (Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical)
- PLC, OT or cyber certifications
- Project management experience or certification
