So that the foundations of ancestral lands may be solid, benefitting Māori from our past, present, and future alike. This is Te Tumu Paeroa-guardian, supporter, and advocate for the mana of Māori land everywhere.

As kaitiaki of whenua Māori under the administration of the Māori Trustee, we provide services that support owners and trustees in protecting and enhancing their whenua for generations to come.

He angitūtanga | About the role

This is an all-encompassing digital communications role, with the added opportunity to use your versatile skill set across digital, communications, and engagement to project manage a range of events.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Develop and deliver a digital communications strategy across multiple channels
  • Create engaging, creative content tailored to each platform
  • Strategically monitor and manage digital channels and the website to drive effective, optimal engagement
  • Project manage the delivery of internal and external events-from planning through to execution and evaluation
  • Prepare compelling collateral and promotional material to support event delivery
  • Use your writing talents to support the communications team as needed

Te Tumu Paeroa has a strong appetite to grow and expand its digital presence across social media and its website. They’ll welcome your ideas, creativity, and knowledge of best practices on this exciting journey.

He kōrero mōu | What we’re looking for:

This role is ideal for someone who brings relevant experience along with a proactive mindset in social media and digital communications, and who has a strong affinity for working with and for a Māori organisation.

What we are looking for includes:

  • Proven digital communications experience, including content creation and channel management
  • Strong storytelling skills, with examples of bringing stories to life across digital platforms
  • An understanding of the core elements of a successful communications strategy
  • Data management skills, including digital data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills to engage effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and event professionals
  • A proactive, inquisitive mindset and a genuine passion for digital communications-and how it can be used to engage, excite, and educate

Specific to Māori competency, we will look for:

Ngā Pae Mōhiotanga Reo Māori: Pae Tahi- Te Whakahua – A desire and ability to practise correct pronunciation of Te Reo Māori is essential.

Ngā Pae Mōhiotanga Tikanga Māori: Pae Tahi- Nō Ia Rā – An understanding and living of Tikanga Māori on a day to day basis.

Strong technical skills and knowledge of a range of channels and tools are expected. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM, NAV, SharePoint, and/or M365 would be a definite advantage. If you also have experience with emerging technologies, including AI, we’d love to hear about it.
