DevOps Engineer | Cloud Automation & Secure CI/CD Enablement

• Location: ACT / QLD (Hybrid)
• Security Clearance: Baseline Security Clearance (Mandatory)
• Contract Length: Initial 12 months + 2 × 12-month extensions (Department discretion)

About the position:

This DevOps Engineer role sits within a systems team responsible for uplifting and modernising enterprise platforms that support high-availability, whole-of-government digital services. The work is delivery-focused and operational, with a strong emphasis on automation, CI/CD maturity, and secure cloud environments

The role suits engineers who are comfortable working across build, deploy, and operate boundaries and who can adapt as priorities shift in response to executive and program demands.

What you’ll do:

• Build, maintain, and evolve CI/CD pipelines supporting continuous integration, testing, and deployment
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to support availability, performance, and reliability
• Automate routine operational tasks through scripting and tooling to improve system efficiency

What we are looking for:

• Hands-on DevOps experience in cloud-based, enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of CI/CD principles, automation, and pipeline design
• Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure using IaC tools
• A security-aware mindset with the ability to work within regulated environments

Technology & environment:

• Cloud platforms with a strong focus on AWS
• CI/CD tooling including CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, CodeCommit, and Git-based workflows
• Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK, Ansible
• Monitoring and operations using CloudWatch, logging, and alerting frameworks
• Scripting with Python, Bash, PowerShell, AWS CLI
• Windows and Linux administration (Red Hat Enterprise preferred)

• This role operates in established, production cloud environments with clear delivery and security expectations
• If your recent experience has been limited to theoretical DevOps, tooling exposure, or non-production environments, this may not align with the team’s immediate needs
• An active Baseline security clearance is required; clearance sponsorship is not available
