Development Assessment Engineering Officer | 5256866
Talent International is currently recruiting for a Development Assessment Engineering Officer to work for the Local Government, based in Blacktown. This is a 4-month contract role with a view to be extended. The role pays $65 per hour + Super.
7 hours per day and 35 hours per week
About the Role
Working within the Drainage Development Assessment team, you will provide technical and administrative support for development application assessments, ensuring compliance with council requirements and service delivery standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess development application referrals relating to drainage and flooding matters
- Provide administrative support to the Drainage Development Assessment team
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, developers, consultants and community members regarding development applications
- Monitor, record and track incoming development application referrals
- Complete TechnologyOne and CM9 tasks accurately and within required timeframes
- Manage enquiries, correspondence and documentation in line with service standards
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with Council record management procedures
- Contribute to engineering specifications, policies and development assessment processes
- Deliver high-quality outcomes while working independently and managing competing priorities
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering
- Previous experience assessing development applications within a local government/council environment
- Strong knowledge of drainage and flooding assessment principles
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Experience working in fast-paced environments with high workloads
- Advanced experience using TechnologyOne, CM9 and GIS systems
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Desirable Skills
- Experience using the NSW Government Planning Portal
- Knowledge of Development Control Plans (DCPs) and Local Government legislation
- Understanding of local government development assessment processes
