Desktop Deployment Engineer
This large government body is seeking an experienced Desktop Deployment Engineer to provide onsite, hands-on support during a large-scale Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade across their environments.
You’ll play a critical role in ensuring a smooth, user-friendly rollout using Microsoft Autopatch, Intune, and SCCM in a modern, co-managed environment.
Key activities
- Provide onsite technical support to staff during the Windows 11 upgrade program
- Support device upgrades delivered via Windows Autopatch, including pre-upgrade readiness checks and post-upgrade validation
- Troubleshoot upgrade-related issues such as application compatibility, performance, user profiles, and device compliance
- Assist users with post-upgrade familiarisation, answering common Windows 11 usability questions
- Log, track, and manage incidents and service requests through ServiceNow
- Work closely with IT teams, project managers, and business stakeholders to coordinate deployment activities
- Identify, document, and escalate issues related to Autopatch, Intune, SCCM, or update failures
Experience & skills
- Proven experience supporting endpoint deployment or OS upgrade projects
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11 in enterprise environments
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Windows Autopatch, and modern endpoint management (preferred)
- Working knowledge of SCCM / MECM in co-managed environments
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting update failures, driver issues, performance, and application compatibility
- Experience using ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools
- Understanding of Active Directory, Entra ID, and managed corporate devices
