The Opportunity

The Delivery Manager is a fixed term position till 30 June 2027 to support Wellington Water on their Digital Transformation through the delivery of the Technology Systems Investment (TSI) Programme. This position will lead a team of four Delivery Leads in the successful end to end delivery of complex technology workstreams ensuring alignment with business goals and outcomes. There will be a need to take responsibility in the hands-on delivery of some workstreams as required in addition to managing your team.

You will lead and mentor your team, take ownership and accountability for project performance measures and be the first point of escalation for any issues. Your success will come from your ability to ensure the plan is delivered successfully through leading the team or influencing those delivering on your behalf.

It will be important for the Delivery Manager to demonstrate experience in the following areas:

  • Lead and mentor your team to plan and deliver their key workstreams and meet KPI’s and objectives to support the TSI Programme.
  • Ensure your team are collaborating with business owners, stakeholders and vendors to communicate progress and business outcomes are being delivered to.
  • Lead, coach and empower cross-functional teams so they are aligned and equipped to deliver to agreed outcomes.
  • Cultivate a customer focussed team to develop a continuous improvement culture and agile ways of working.
  • Provide transparent reporting on progress, risk, and value delivery to stakeholders and governance forums.

About you

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Proven experience delivering business focussed technology programmes requiring large scale technology investment.
  • A sound working knowledge of using project methodologies and Agile frameworks in a fit for purpose manner (10+ years).
  • Strong stakeholder management experience in complex business environments demonstrating excellent communication, facilitation and influencing skills.
  • A thorough understanding of project financial management and business case development.
  • A background of leading, managing and mentoring teams to successfully deliver project and change initiatives.
