About the Position:

This isn’t simply a database administration role.

It’s about designing, building and evolving the platforms that support critical national registry services, ensuring enterprise databases remain secure, reliable and ready to support ongoing change.

Working within an Agile delivery environment, you’ll partner closely with architecture, application and platform teams across the full database lifecycle from design and implementation through to release, optimisation and ongoing support. Along the way, you’ll help strengthen team capability, champion continuous improvement and contribute to modern engineering practices.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, build and maintain enterprise database platforms across SQL Server and AWS database technologies.
  • Collaborate with application, platform and architecture teams to support the full database delivery lifecycle.
  • Drive automation, deployment improvements and platform optimisation across modern engineering environments.
  • Coach team members, contribute to Agile ways of working and support continuous improvement initiatives.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise database platforms within complex environments.
  • Proven capability across SQL Server, PostgreSQL/Aurora or MongoDB, together with cloud-based database technologies.
  • Experience with DevOps, automation, CI/CD and platform management, supported by strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts, influence outcomes and work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

Technology & Environment:

  • SQL Server 2022+, AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and MongoDB Atlas
  • AWS (IAM, CloudWatch, EC2, Serverless Computing)
  • DevOps, CI/CD, Azure DevOps and Git Governance
  • Agile, Scrum and ITIL

A Quick Note Before You Apply:

This role is unlikely to suit candidates whose experience has been limited to database administration or operational support without broader involvement in database design, platform engineering, automation and enterprise delivery.

Success in this role comes from balancing technical depth with collaboration, continuous improvement and ownership across the entire database delivery lifecycle.
