Overview of the Position
Our client is seeking highly skilled and versatile professionals to join a dynamic Data and Analytics branch within a government department. This branch is responsible for operating and sustaining critical data platforms that enable the department’s data strategy and objectives. The successful candidates will work in an integrated workforce structure to deliver transformational change, platform maturation, and value creation through analytics.

Depending on the functional team, duties may include:

  • Engineering and sustaining data platforms, including ETL/ELT activities, ITSM, incident management, and platform configuration.
  • Supporting data security models, including Attribute-Based Access Control and Role-Based Access Control.
  • Delivering data products, solutions, and insights, including dashboards, web applications, and data science solutions.
  • Designing and implementing data architectures, models, and metadata management.
  • Engaging with business areas to deliver communications, change outcomes, and data products.
  • Driving key projects, such as onboarding and migrating groups to new platforms.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and mentoring to promote data skills and culture.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience working on defence projects is highly regarded
  • Proficiency in tools and platforms such as MS Azure, AWS, Cloudera, Power BI, Neo4J, and others as relevant to the role.
  • Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and technical skills.
  • Knowledge of Agile work approaches and project management tools like MS Azure Boards.
  • Proficiency in programming and query languages such as Python, R, SQL, and Cipher (for data science roles).
  • Security clearance requirements: NV1 or NV2, depending on the role.
  • Australian Citizenship is mandatory.
