
Data Scientist
The Data Scientist role is technically focused, with delegated authority to resolve issues across various activities. It involves autonomy and accountability, applying initiative and judgment to interpret legislation and policy. The role provides technical, professional, and operational advice on complex problems and may support strategic planning, project management, and policy development for our client’s objectives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Research and implement innovative techniques and interdisciplinary methods to solve business issues, focusing on AI, data science, and statistical applications

Design statistical, mathematical, and data science models to support analytical work addressing business challenges, client initiatives, and product development

Collaborate across teams and build relationships within relevant stakeholders

Communicate effectively-both verbally and in writing-and present outcomes tailored to context and audience

Undertake ad hoc modelling and data science requests to support DaSH projects, initiatives, or executive needs
Qualifying Candidates must have:
- 4+ years of actuarial / data scientist experience
- Experience with complex internal or external stakeholder engagement and management
- Proficient Python or R programming skills including data manipulation, analysis and model development/deployment
- Demonstrated experience in application of Artificial Intelligence, particularly in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to extract information and design of decision-support systems
- Proficient in SQL, accessing databases and data storage systems (e.g AWS S3)
- Working knowledge of Language Models, Large Language Models & Generative AI and how they can be used effectively
- Working knowledge & understanding of AI Assurance and Governance frameworks relating to the development of ethically sound and safe AI systems
- Australian Citizenship.
