About the Role

Join the team as a Data Engineer and play a key role in driving operational excellence through the design and implementation of robust data solutions. In this role, you will focus on supporting transformative initiatives within the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector, ensuring the scalability, security, and integrity of data systems that power critical IT solutions.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with experienced engineers to build and maintain data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, and PySpark in hybrid cloud environments. You will contribute to the seamless integration of data solutions that transition from the program stage to Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations. Working closely with the Data and Analytics team, you will ensure alignment with the organization’s reporting and analytics goals, as well as play a pivotal role in shaping the operational framework that supports these solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing


* Design and implement scalable, secure data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, and PySpark in hybrid cloud environments.
* Manage data pipelines, ingestion, transformation, and storage within Fabric Lakehouses/Delta Lakes to fuel analytics.
* Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team to ensure alignment with reporting and analytics objectives.
* Build and optimise SQL-based solutions for high-performance query execution and data integrity.
* Work alongside the team to manage the transition from project to operational stability (Business-as-Usual).
* Help implement best-practice data solutions for critical VET projects, impacting real-world education outcomes.
* Provide mentorship, shape best practices, and document solutions to empower others on the team.

Requirements for the Position


* 3+ years of hands-on experience with data engineering (Azure Synapse, data lakes, and SQL-based tools like SSIS, SSRS).
* Strong skills in building, optimizing, and managing data pipelines and architectures in hybrid cloud environments.
* Proficiency in SQL, PySpark, Data Modeling, and advanced data preparation for analytics and machine learning.
* Experience transitioning data solutions from project mode to Business-as-Usual operations.
* Proven problem-solving skills and a keen focus on data quality and operational reliability.
* Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Data Engineer Associate) are a plus but not essential.
