Job Details
We are seeking two experienced Senior Data Engineers to join a dynamic team on a 12-month contract with the possibility of a 12-month extension. The successful candidates will lead the technical implementation of data engineering projects, collaborating with key business areas to deliver high-quality data solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own the technical implementation of new data from analysis to delivery, including designing and delivering data dictionaries, defining release steps, and establishing best practices for data modelling.
- Develop and maintain SQL analytical and ETL code, ensuring optimisation and tuning for optimal performance.
- Facilitate continuous improvement in delivery principles, coding standards, and documentation, while providing training sessions to the team.
- Collaborate with data consumers, database developers, testers, and IT support teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
Essential Criteria
- Proficiency in AWS services related to data engineering, including AWS Glue, S3, Lambda, Redshift, Athena, Kinesis, EMR, and Step Functions, as well as Cloud Formation or Terraform.
- Strong skills in data pipeline design and development using ETL/ELT frameworks.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python (preferred), Java, or Scala.
- Strong SQL skills for data manipulation and analysis.
- Hands-on experience in cloud-based data architecture and deployments, including working with containerised environments (Docker, ECS, EKS).
- Understanding of DevOps processes and experience using DevOps tools.
- Demonstrated competency in at least two technologies such as Teradata, Snowflake, Redshift, or Databricks.
