Data & Analytics Test Analyst | Federal Government

Location: Canberra, ACT | (Hybrid, Flexible)

Contract: 12 months + 12 month extension | Based on the discretion of the Department

Security Clearance: Baseline Security Clearance (Preferred)

Core purpose: Join a high-impact delivery team driving data quality, BI reporting, and Cloud-based insights at scale.

About our ideal candidate:

We are on the lookout for a sharp Data & Analytics Test Analyst who thrives in data-rich, cloud-first environments. Your would actively play a hands-on role validating complex datasets, reconciling source-to-target pipelines, and supporting enterprise-wide reporting solutions. This is not your standard UI test role, this one’s deeply embedded in SQL, BI, and data integrity.

Your work would involve liaising closely and supporting developers, analysts, SMEs, and product owners across data platforms and reporting tools to help shape a robust, scalable testing practice around critical data pipelines and warehouse solutions.

About the position:

• Developing detailed, traceable test cases aligned to data requirements, pipelines, and analytics needs

• Executing integration, data, and functional testing across multiple layers (source, staging, reporting)

• Reconciling large datasets and investigating mismatches using advanced SQL

• Supporting the Test Lead with status updates, defect coordination, and stakeholder comms

• Facilitating defect triage with devs, SMEs, and BAs in a fast-moving agile environment

• Engaging across JIRA, Confluence, and X-Ray to manage test cycles and reporting

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience testing Cloud Data Lake or Data Warehouse implementations

• Strong SQL skills for data validation and reconciliation (joins, aggregates, CTEs, etc.)

• Hands-on use of JIRA, X-Ray, and collaborative tools like Confluence

• Ability to interpret business rules and translate them into technical data validation steps

Desirable Experience:

• Exposure to test automation (Python, shell scripts, or SQL automation)
