Cybersecurity Project Manager

As the Project Manager – SASE Cybersecurity for this leading University, you will lead the project from initiation through to implementation and closure, working closely with security architects, engineers, business stakeholders, and external vendors.

Experience delivering Zero Trust-aligned initiatives (such as identity-centric security, secure access, or least-privilege models) will be highly regarded, as the SASE project forms a key foundation of the Zero Trust and NIST maturity strategy.

Key accountabilities

Lead the end-to-end delivery of the SASE cybersecurity project in 2026
Own project scope, schedule, budget, resourcing, risks, and dependencies
Develop and maintain detailed delivery plans and implementation roadmaps
Coordinate cross-functional teams across IT, cybersecurity, business units, and vendors
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and statements of work
Identify and resolve risks and issues, escalating where required
Provide regular reporting via PPM tools, dashboards, and executive briefings
Ensure project outcomes reduce cyber risk and uplift Zero Trust and NIST maturity

Experience & Skills

Proven experience leading end-to-end delivery of enterprise cybersecurity projects
Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including secure access technologies
Demonstrated success managing complex stakeholder environments
Experience across Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies
Proficiency with project management tools (PPM platforms, MS Project, JIRA, Confluence)
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and vendor management skills
Experience delivering SASE, Zero Trust, or identity-centric security initiatives
Familiarity with Zero Trust concepts such as least privilege, identity-based access, and secure connectivity
Experience in an Australian tertiary education environment highly regarded
