Role
We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Operations Manager to join our federal government client as a APS employee. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage cyber operations, ensuring the delivery and enhancement of cyber platforms while promoting a culture of security awareness and compliance.

The key responsibilities of the Assistant Director, Cyber Operations include:

  • Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the Cyber Operations team, providing strategic direction and fostering staff development.
  • Incident Response and Management: Develop and implement action plans for cyber security events, coordinate responses to threats, and manage potential malicious activities.
  • Cyber Platform Oversight: Oversee security platforms, including gateway security, privileged access management, and vulnerability management, ensuring alignment with compliance efforts.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration: Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC).
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor emerging cybersecurity threats and trends, implementing measures to address them while ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  • Security Awareness and Education: Promote a culture of security awareness and education across the organisation.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to guide and develop a team.
  • Expertise in incident response, cyber platform oversight, and proactive risk management.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of cyber frameworks, legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex security issues.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks.
