Cyber Security Architect
Location: Sydney (Hybrid)
Contract: Until December 2026 (with possible extension)

We are currently seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect to support key cybersecurity initiatives within a large government environment based in inner Sydney. This role will play a critical part in strengthening cloud security architecture, advancing DevSecOps capabilities, and enhancing enterprise email security.

The successful candidate will contribute to strategic security initiatives focused on improving existing platforms and designing the organisation’s future security architecture.

Key Projects

DevSecOps Uplift and Rationalisation
This initiative includes two streams:

  • A tactical stream focused on improving current platforms and security controls.

  • A strategic stream responsible for designing the organisation’s future-state DevSecOps architecture.

Email Security Uplift
This project will enhance the organisation’s email security capabilities using Mimecast CyberGraph and Advanced BEC technologies, including the implementation of dynamic email banners for staff to strengthen protection against phishing and business email compromise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide cybersecurity architecture expertise across major security uplift initiatives.

  • Design and implement secure cloud architectures across Azure and AWS.

  • Embed modern DevSecOps security practices, including SAST, SCA and DAST.

  • Contribute to the design of future-state DevSecOps security architecture.

  • Strengthen enterprise email security capabilities using advanced threat protection tools.

  • Ensure secure design principles are implemented across cloud and infrastructure platforms.

  • Work closely with engineering, infrastructure and security teams to improve governance, resilience and compliance.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Cyber Security Architect, Cloud Architect or similar role.

  • Strong experience with Azure and AWS, including:

    • Secure solution design

    • Identity and access management

    • Governance and compliance

  • Demonstrated experience with modern DevSecOps practices and tools, including:

    • SAST (Static Application Security Testing)

    • SCA (Software Composition Analysis)

    • DAST (Dynamic Application Security Testing)

  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration and management.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud architecture principles and security frameworks.

  • At least 5 years of cybersecurity experience in complex ICT environments, including incident management.

Desirable

  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Relevant certifications such as:

    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect

    • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert
