Cyber Security Assurance & Risk Assessment | Security Engineering, Cyber Risk, Architecture

  • Location: Canberra, ACT (Hybrid)
  • Security Clearance: NV1 Cleared (Mandatory)
  • Contract Length: 12 Months contract

We are supporting our client’s major federal program driving uplift across cyber defence, assurance, and operational security engineering. This role sits within a high-performing cyber function responsible for strengthening enterprise cyber resilience while enabling large-scale project delivery across complex ICT and OT environments.

As the Senior Cyber Security Assurance & Risk Analyst, you will embed deep security engineering and assurance capability across cyber projects and operational teams. You’ll drive technical documentation, cyber design reviews, risk assessments, and uplift activities, while collaborating closely with engineering teams, service providers, and internal security leadership to ensure enterprise-wide cyber outcomes.

Key responsibilities of the position:

  • Develop high-quality technical documentation in alignment with internal frameworks (e.g., Technology Management Framework).
  • Conduct investigations, produce findings reports, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Work across engineering and delivery partners to locate, validate, and populate technical security information for project execution.
  • Support the development and review of SOAs, SSPs, SRMPs and other assurance artefacts.
  • Design and review cyber security solutions that enhance enterprise resilience.
  • Provide operational cyber defence support, including threat/incident detection and response uplift.
  • Undertake architecture and design reviews from a security perspective and provide technical advisory.
  • Strengthen relationships with internal teams, service providers, and leadership to drive alignment on security outcomes.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong capability across cyber risk, security engineering, and the design/implementation of security controls in ICT and OT environments.
  • Experience developing architecture-aligned recommendations to improve system resilience.
  • Background in cyber engineering with a focus on technology convergence and alignment to government/industry standards.
  • Understanding of IT security management and operations within an ITIL framework.
  • Ability to evaluate, critique, and articulate complex security designs and integrations.

Desirable skills & experience:

  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and service delivery partners.
  • Exposure to enterprise-wide cyber uplift programs and large-scale government environments.
  • Experience developing enterprise cyber documentation and assurance artefacts.

Qualifications

  • Formal academic qualifications in ICT, Engineering, or Cyber Security. (Highly Desirable)

Essential – at least two of the following:

  • CISSP
  • CISA
  • CISM
  • IRAP Assessor
  • SABSA – SCF / SCP / SCM
