Cyber Networking Engineer

- Hybrid – 3 days on site
Due to an uplift of our client’s enterprise architecture, our federal government client needs a Cyber Networking Engineer to assist with cutting-edge cybersecurity and network infrastructure. In this pivotal role within our, you’ll lead the design, modernization, and secure operation of hybrid network environments, supporting innovative cloud initiatives and enterprise-wide security strategies. Your expertise will ensure the systems are resilient against cyber threats while optimising performance and compliance, making a tangible impact on national safety and public well-being.
Required Skills:
- Extensive hands-on experience in delivering Azure hybrid networking solutions, including configuring hybrid connectivity (BGP, OSPF, VPN Gateway, ExpressRoute).
- Proven ability to develop and support on-premise networking solutions, managing enterprise network infrastructure effectively.
- Deep knowledge of cybersecurity principles, with practical experience implementing security controls such as firewalls, proxies, WAF, and threat mitigation tools.
- Strong skills in configuring enterprise perimeter technologies, including Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Cisco ASA firewalls, with an emphasis on policy design and traffic inspection.
- Competence in managing Microsoft 365 security and identity governance (Entra ID, Conditional Access, Defender, Sentinel).
- Familiarity with vulnerability management tools like Tenable and Qualys, alongside scripting automation (PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible).
Nice to Have Skills:
- Certifications in networking (Azure, Cisco, Fortinet) or cybersecurity.
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere or Hyper-V.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools like Azure Monitor or SolarWinds.
- Skills in automation scripting for network and security operations.
Required Qualifications and Security Clearance:
- A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Baseline Security Clearance is mandatory.
- Demonstrated success in managing complex hybrid infrastructure environments, ideally within regulated or government sectors.
- Several years of professional experience specializing in enterprise networking and security.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to undertake occasional interstate travel.
- Flexibility to work in a hybrid environment, with three days onsite per week.
