Our client is a Federal Government organisation within the Defence portfolio responsible for protecting Australia’s national interests through intelligence, cyber security and national security capabilities.
The organisation delivers complex ICT and capability projects in a highly secure environment and works closely with government and industry partners to support critical national security outcomes.

About the Role

An opportunity is available for an experienced Contract Manager (Project Manager) to support the delivery of complex procurement and contract management activities within a secure ICT environment. Working with senior stakeholders, you will manage contract performance, procurement documentation, financial activities and commercial risks while ensuring compliance with Commonwealth procurement frameworks.
This role is suited to an experienced contract management professional with strong procurement knowledge and the ability to work effectively in a high-security environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage complex procurement and contract management activities.
  • Develop procurement documentation, reports, contract schedules and submissions.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide advice on Commonwealth procurement legislation, policy and commercial risk.
  • Monitor contract performance, risks and contract variations.
  • Assist with financial management, purchase orders and expenditure forecasting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes and practices.
  • Support project delivery within governance and compliance requirements.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in contract management.
  • Strong knowledge of Commonwealth procurement and contract management.
  • Experience preparing procurement documentation and contract deliverables.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Financial management and commercial acumen.
  • Experience working within Defence or other secure government environments is highly regarded.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated stakeholder relationship management at a senior level.
  • Minimum five years’ contract management experience.
  • Degree in Business, Procurement or a related discipline.

Security & Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen.
  • Hold a current TSPV (Top Secret Positive Vetting) security clearance.
  • Be able to complete the Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA).
  • Work onsite in Canberra, with flexible arrangements subject to operational requirements.
