Communications Officer (APS5)
Our client is a large values-focused Federal Government Agency seeking an experienced APS5 Communications Officer to support the delivery of clear, plain-English communications across internal and external channels in a fast-paced environment.
ROLE DETAILS:
Classification: APS5
Contract: ASAP start to 31 December 2026 with extension potential
Hours: Full-time, 37.5hrs per week
Rate: $55.24 per hour + super
Locations: (VIC only): Geelong VIC or Richmond VIC
Eligibility: Australian Citizenship required (Federal Government)

ABOUT THE ROLE:
You will develop and deliver communications content and support communications planning across multiple channels. You’ll partner with internal stakeholders, ensure content is accessible and on-brand, and help manage requests coming into the team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Draft and edit communications for internal and external channels (newsletter, intranet, website, staff/partner talking points)
Contribute to communications strategies/plans and coordinate delivery activity
Ensure content is accessible and aligned to style/brand guidelines
Manage team inbox correspondence, including actioning and triaging requests
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Government/public sector experience, copyediting, and accessibility/inclusive comms experience (preferred)
Experience preparing and implementing communications strategies and plans
Strong copywriting/editing across multiple channels
Confident stakeholder engagement and clear written advice
Tertiary qualifications in communications/journalism (or similar) desirable
